How to get here by train

  • Coming from the south (from Paris, Brussels, etc.), you will need to change trains at Roosendaal, the first station in the Netherlands. You take the intercity train to Zwolle, and get off at Nijmegen. There is a train every thirty minutes, and the journey will take about an hour and a half.
  • Coming from the east (northern Germany, Denmark, Poland, etc.) or from the southeast (Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, etc.), you will need to change trains at Venlo, Arnhem or Deventer – depending on your travelling schedule. From either of these places, it will take approximately 30-50 minutes to arrive in Nijmegen.

Train information is given on the yellow time tables located in station halls, on train platforms or on the internet: www.ns.nl. Local buses stop on campus, e.g. on the Erasmuslaan. There are several connections from Nijmegen Central Station to these bus stops (e.g. line 10 Heyendaal Shuttle, lines 3 and 4 to Wijchen). If you exit at the Erasmuslaan bus stop, the tall concrete building in front of you (carrying the university logo) is the Erasmusbuilding, located at the Erasmusplein 1. The Faculty of Arts resides in this building.
